Eid al Adha

The UAE has officially announced a four-day Eid Al Adha holiday for government employees, offering a long weekend to mark one of the most significant Islamic festivals.

According to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, public sector holidays will begin on Thursday, June 5 (9 Dhul Hijjah) and continue until Sunday, June 8 (12 Dhul Hijjah). Government offices will reopen on Monday, June 9.

The announcement followed a successful sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent moon on Tuesday, May 27, marking Wednesday, May 28 as the first day of Dhul Hijjah in the UAE.

As a result, the Day of Arafah will fall on June 5, while Eid Al Adha will begin on Friday, June 6, in line with Islamic tradition.

This extended break allows families across the Emirates to celebrate the occasion with prayers, gatherings, and acts of charity.
