On the eighth consecutive day of conflict, tensions between Iran and Israel show no signs of easing as both sides continue exchanging attacks. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) remains on high alert, actively monitoring the situation following Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed on Friday that Tehran refuses to engage in any negotiations with the United States while Israeli aggression persists. He emphasized that Iran’s ballistic missile program remains off the table in any talks.
Araghchi is scheduled to address the United Nations Human Rights Council on Friday afternoon, according to UN spokesperson Pascal Sim. The intervention is set for 1300 GMT. Ahead of Araghchi’s remarks, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN in Geneva, Daniel Meron, is expected to brief reporters.
Earlier on Friday, an Israeli drone reportedly struck an apartment in a residential building in Tehran’s Gisha district, as per local outlet Asriran. This latest attack adds to the intensifying hostilities marking the eighth day of military escalation.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned the continued assault, stating that Iran has always sought peace but now sees the cessation of enemy aggression as the only path to ending the conflict. He further insisted on a strong response to ensure that the “Zionist terrorists’” actions are permanently stopped.
On the diplomatic front, Foreign Minister Araghchi confirmed that Iran’s discussions with the E3 nations (UK, France, and Germany) in Geneva would remain limited to nuclear and regional matters. He reiterated that Tehran’s missile program is non-negotiable.
Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul expressed conditional openness to dialogue. “The UK, France, and the EU High Representative have consistently signaled readiness for talks,” he said before his Geneva meeting with Araghchi. “However, this requires a serious commitment from Iran to halt any nuclear enrichment that could lead to weaponization and to include the missile program in negotiations.”
As the war intensifies, diplomatic efforts remain limited, and hopes for de-escalation appear dim without major concessions from both sides.

Iran FM rejects any negotiation with US
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, stated that the country is not open to negotiations with the US while Israeli attacks continue.
“There is no room for negotiations with US until Israeli aggression stops,” he stated, adding: “We will not hold talks with US as it is a partner to Israeli crime against Iran.”
“The Americans have repeatedly sent messages calling seriously for negotiations. But we have made clear that as long as the aggression does not stop, there will be no place for diplomacy and dialogue,” added the chief diplomat, who was due in Geneva for talks with his European counterparts.
