A jaw-dropping gold-plated supercar stole the spotlight at the 55th Middle East Watch and Jewellery Show in Sharjah, captivating attendees with its rare craftsmanship and luxury appeal.
The showstopper? A 2014 Nissan GT-R, nicknamed ‘Gold-Zilla’, fully wrapped in meticulously hand-engraved 24K gold plating. This automotive masterpiece, blending speed with splendor, was created by Kuhl Racing in collaboration with renowned Japanese artist Takahiko Izawa. Over 2,000 hours were invested in detailing every inch of the vehicle — from the bonnet and fenders to the mirrors and rear — making it a true collector’s item.
Mohsen Dhaibani, deputy regional manager at Al Romaizan Gold and Jewellery, shared, “We treat it as a piece of art. Only two of these cars exist globally — one in white gold and one in yellow gold. We’re proud to present the yellow gold version here in Sharjah.”
The dazzling car isn’t the only highlight. This year’s edition of the exhibition is among the largest yet, featuring over 500 exhibitors from 26 countries. Remarkably, around 90 participants are showcasing their collections for the first time.
Sultan Mohammed Shattaf, chief commercial officer at Expo Centre Sharjah, stated, “We’ve seen unprecedented interest from international brands. Our aim is to present an elite selection of jewelry and watches for both B2B and B2C clients.”
Visitors can explore thousands of kilograms of gold jewelry — ranging from traditional Arabic pieces to Indian, European, and contemporary global styles. Exhibits also include platinum, silver, white gold, and a premium range of diamond-studded designs, offering something exquisite for every taste.
