Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, ambassador for the ongoing UNESCO nomination, praised the decision. She stated that the move reflects Sharjah’s deep commitment to preserving human heritage.

“This site has connected with humankind for over 200,000 years,” Sheikha Bodour noted. “It reinforces Sharjah’s role as a global hub for knowledge and culture.”

The Faya Palaeolandscape offers unique archaeological and cultural significance. In fact, researchers consider it a vital link between ancient civilizations and modern communities.

Moreover, the nomination showcases Sharjah’s strategy to promote historical awareness while encouraging cultural tourism. The initiative also aligns with the UAE’s broader goals of sustainability and heritage preservation.

Sheikha Bodour emphasized, “Heritage builds a bridge from the past to the present. It renews identity and strengthens memory for future generations.”

As the nomination progresses, the Faya site stands as a powerful reminder of Sharjah’s dedication to heritage, education, and global cultural dialogue.
